Committee Meeting Stuff
The SRC Committee met on Thursday 21 January in the rural surroundings of the Hon Sec's farm. The proceedings were only interrupted by the requirements of the milking regime, but the Chairman soon got the hang of udder tugging. The Committee enjoyed itself so much that it plans to have another meeting. This time it will be at the home of Terry Robinson on 18 February 2010. It is understood that milking of cattle will not be on the agenda. It is just possible that the SRC's affairs might get a look-in.
Members who have issues that they would like to have raised at the Committee Meeting should make sure that they are raised with a Committee Member in good time. In the event of a bribe being required, members are asked to ensure that the brown envelope is clean and has not been used before.
We have been challenged to a quiz night by our friends at the Stafford Railway Society.
This will be held on Monday 15th February at their normal venue, the St Leonards Sports and Social Club, commencing at 7.30pm.
In the clubroom you will find a notice asking you to put your name down if you are able to attend. Please do so.
Exhibition Meetings for SRC members
One of the great joys of being an SRC member is that you get the opportunity to hear The Exhibition Manager going on a bit about the Exhibition on no less than TWO occasions.
The 11th National Rally for Hand Powered Rail Vehicles will be held at Froghall Station on the Churnet Valley Railway, Staffordshire
on Sunday 11th July 2010.
Check here for details of this year's rally and photos of 2009!

Some people are so sufficiently disturbed that they wish to contact the Webmaster. If counselling fails and the urge continues, you can contact the Webmaster by email if you click here.
On the other hand, further counselling is a better option.
Believe it or not, there are some people who are actually responsible for all of this. In fact, most of them have not yet been locked up.
The names of the members of the Circle's Committee are available if you CLICK HERE.
(NOTE: Some people think that if you don't click here, the Committee will go away. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Like the poor, the Committee is always with us.)
SRC makes an exhibition of itself Once again, the SRC has succeeded in making an exhibition of itself. The Committee had one of its periodic rushes of blood to the head and hired three halls (THREE, mark you!) at the Staffordshire County Showground. Then they invited sundry bods to come along and play with their train sets, and suggested to the population at large that it might be a rather jolly notion to come along and enjoy the fun.
The replacement for Littleton, the SRC's flagship OO layout, is called Whiteacres. Steady progress has been made on track laying on this new layout and the results of the work in the vicinity of the station can be seen in the photo to the left.
Linesider for January and February 2010
What timing!
They're publishing another edition of Linesider. Immediately before we hold our annual exhibition, the powers that be are actually publishing an edition of Linesider. What kind of logic is that? Are they determined to sabotage the morale of the membership? Well, actually, the stuff in it is fine and dandy and the membership need not take one step backwards (especially on the clubroom staircase) when offered a copy by that nice Mr Hill.
Oh ... don't forget that you can see all of David Hughes' photographs in our Album pages.
Another Stafford Railway Circle layout has been described in the model railway press. This time it's New Haden, the SRC's EM gauge layout, and it is the subject of an article in Hornby Magazine.
Crimson Road hits the streets
Peter Griffiths, one of the SRC team who masterminds Littleton (and who is heavily involved with building Littleton's successor, Whiteacres), has built a very impressive layout at home.
It is a model of an EWS depot and, this month, it is on the cover of, and is featured inside, the Railway Modeller.
You start to worry about some of the people whom you know in the SRC.
One of the steadiest and most common sense of people in the Circle is the provider of our 'What's On' information, Mark Forrest. However, it appears that the cold weather has got to him in a big way.!
Squinting up at the distant light from the basement of Web Towers in which he is normally kept under restraint, the Webmaster noticed a strange wintry glow in the sky. The chap in the white coat who came in to unstrap the restraint jacket and to leave his gruel and a mug of water mentioned that it had been snowing.
So many kind people have thought of the Webmaster during the current festive season (mainly in terms of hoping that he was on a Eurostar service) and have sent in little bits and pieces for Consultants' Corner.
Rather than wait for a revision (due in the New Year) when the festive element would be a tad late for some of the stuff, the Webmaster has determined to publish an "extra" which provides festive cheer and a warm glow...
The Webmaster is noted for his love of the festive season and for the huge quantities of goodwill which pour forth from his warm personality. The fact that he turns hosepipes on carol singers and puts poisoned carrots out on Christmas Eve (just in case Rudolph really exists) is not necessarily indicative of a nasty nature.
As if it wasn't bad enough having to fork out large amounts of dosh on all those humbugs that get consumed at this time of year, the Hon Treas has seen fit to extract even more.
Steam Specials
This shows steam stuff through to the end of February 2010. Not a lot is happening!
Another example of the website trying to be useful. The Webmaster understands that being helpful is the very sort of thing that he should be trying to stamp out, but begs the pardon of the reader that this has not yet happened.
