Ashbourne by Nick Palette
Ashbourne (Midland) is a small (6ft 6ins x 1ft) 4mm scale layout depicting the terminus on a fictional branch line from Derby to Ashbourne. It is set in the last days of the line before closure – circa 1959 – 1965. The period modelled allows steam and diesel traction.
Traffic comprises local passenger trains and the daily local freight train conveying typical goods for a small town – coal and general merchandise. There is also occasional traffic for the local brewery.
Locos and stock are from Bachmann, Hornby and Dapol. The structures and scenic items are all readily available from the same manufacturers.
Control is by DCC with hand operated points.
