Churnet Valley Railway
The Churnet Valley Railway’s traditional season opening event returns, which sees multiple steam locomotives take to the rails and enchant both young and old with the sight, sounds and smells of yesteryear. Come and see up to 5 locomotives across over the weekend of 23/24 February 2019, with a variety of services along both the picturesque Churnet Valley Line and the steeply graded Cauldon Branch – offering some of the most challenging gradients on a heritage railway anywhere in the world.
Star guest falls to 7827 Lydham Manor, making its first visit to the North of England in preservation. Joining her will be Austerity Whiston from neighbouring Foxfield Railway, both of which will operate alongside the line’s resident Polish Tank no. 2944 and American S160s nos. 5197 and 6046.
