Middle Elmton 2mm/N
The layout supposes that Middle Elmton is a small town in North Nottinghamshire between Elmton, Creswell Junction and Langwith. A branch leads from the town to Bolsover. Traffic includes local passenger and freight along with some mainline traffic between Sheffield and London using both the former Midland Railway and Great Central Routes
The layout is set around 1962, thus allowing a variety of ex LMS / ex LNER and BR Standard designed steam locomotives, along with some of the early diesel classes seen in the area at that time to run.
Most of the locomotives are ready to run models with slight detailing and weathering to improve their overall appearance.
The track work is Peco Code 80, painted and ballasted to reduce the slightly over-scale appearance. The points are all live frog, operated by the stud and probe method.
The buildings on the layout are a mixture of modified kits and scratch built whilst the scenery in mainly polystyrene which after bring cut to shape is then covered with plaster bandage before being finished with a variety of scatter materials.
The layout gives us great pleasure to operate; we hope it gives you as much enjoyment in viewing it.
