Martini Junction, 2mm, N
Martini Junction gets its name from the old Martini adverts – any place; anytime; anywhere… which sums up the concept in a nutshell. The layout started life as a ‘learning project’ for newer members of the club so you were likely to see stock from any era or location running together – an ethos we still maintain so you may just see a Midland Blue Diesel passing an enthusiast’s steam special….
Over the years the layout has evolved with changes to the uncoupling system; Goods Yard layout; new cameos and so on, but the layout is unusual insofar as we have adapted it so we can run using either analogue (DC) or digital (DCC) allowing us to operate any member’s stock.
Behind the scenic boards, the fiddle yard comprises 6 tracks in each direction plus a bi-directional centre road; enabling storage of up to 27 trains.
But, Martini Junction is not just a ‘roundy-roundy’ layout, it has a Branch Line; Goods Yard; a Goods diversion track; scratch-built buildings; good scenery and, sound (when we operate DCC), offering plenty to keep viewers interested.
At exhibitions, we operate the Steam to Green Diesel transition era (day1) followed by Blue Diesel and Sectorisation (day 2).
