SRC Modular Group – progress report.
The latest session of the SRC Modular Group was held on Monday 15th Ocotber. It was yet another enjoyable and productive session. The aim was to start work on the fiddle yard using two redundant baseboards orginally built for the ongoing N scale layout but no longer required for that purpose. A new set of legs needs to be built and the height of the exisiting legs needs to be adjusted to meet the modular standard. Due to a lack of resources to achieve that last night, a start was made on tracklaying.
By the end of the session, a good proportion of the track was laid and a start had been made on wiring.
The opportunity was also taken to experiment with wireless control using mobile devices and JMRI Wi-throttle. Here it is in action:
It is the aim of the group to hold an SRC members’ open day hopefully towards the end of November/beginning of December to showcase what we have done and hopefully encourage new membership to the group.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 29th October.
