Stafford Railway Circle Modular Layout Group
Stafford Railway Circle now has a modular layout group which was formed in June this year and so far we have had three meetings. During this time we have moved from agreeing a module specification to constructing the first base boards.
A reminder of the modular concept: a module is a section of model railway that is compatible with a given specification and that can be joined with other modules of the same specification to form a larger operation. It can also be a stand-alone section that can be used independently.
The aim of the group is to construct a series of modules which can be set up in a number of different configurations, depending on which modules are available, to enable us to play trains for our own enjoyment.
Here are some examples of what is planned:
Comments that have been made by members:
“I really enjoyed last night, first time I’ve been involved in a club group for years!
Now I have got my board built, and thanks for all the help last night, I now have 3 ideas for it-
Single track through line with sidings/brewery.
Single track in serving a dockside but this would be an end board.
Double track in with single track out with sidings serving some sort of industry.”
“Thanks to you for ordering the wood and to the whole group for the help – we really made some progress last evening.”
“Thanks for all your hard work last night. I think we’re now in a position to move on with a vengeance.”
At this stage, we have five members, but I would hope in the fullness of time that we can increase that number. So, if you would like to come and join us (if you are not already a member of SRC you would first have to join), please feel free to do so. Please contact the group leader Nick Palette ( email@example.com ) if you would like further information.
