St Johns 4mm OO
Welcome to the South Devon seaside town of St Johns. The town was first established in 1785 with the building of the church along with the small harbour which enabled transportation of materials and goods by means of the tall ships while the town slowly increased in size and population. As technology developed with the expansion of railways the Great Western built a line from Paignton to Kingswear with a branch line from Churston to Brixham and St Johns opening in 1868. The layout is ficticious and was built as a memory of my father John Warden (hence the location name) with whom I had many years building layouts. The scenery on the layout is really the most stand out feature with the lovely green Devon rolling hills captured in a way where the layout feels like a real location. The station, yard and harbour are loosely based on Padstow with the beach and sea wall similar to St Ives which enable local freight and holiday passenger traffic to run. We hope you enjoy your visit to the seaside and welcome any questions you would like to ask.
