Stackton Tressell started off its exhibition life as a “U” shaped terminus to fiddle yard layout. After attending a number of exhibitions it was decided that it would be changed to a continuous run layout and the opportunity was also taken to increase the depth of the scenic boards by a foot, to enable a better background to be installed. Thus, in 2012, the layout was withdrawn from the exhibition circuit for the work to be done, the result of which you can see here today. Members of the club, many of whom had never built from scratch before, undertook the task of creating the buildings on the layout and, although there are a couple of commercially bought models, these will also be changed for scratch built versions as time allows. All the buildings are non date specific, so that allows us to operate the layout in various time scales from the latter days of steam through to the latest era by changing the road vehicles.

The layout is set somewhere in the North Midlands, in the Birmingham, Stafford, Nuneaton triangle, and the station was developed to allow for through trains and also for terminating cross city trains that run to and through Birmingham. The junction outside the station allows for trains to take the secondary route which by-passes Birmingham, and this line sees a number of freight trains and excursion traffic.
Our first exhibition on completing the update took the layout to Loughborough for the Soar Valley MRC 2014 exhibition where it won the award for “Best in Show”.
A continuous run layout that can operate in any period from the steam to diesel changeover, BR Blue, Sectorisation or the latest era. Please advise what period you require.
