July 2025
It’s been a while since the last monthly news. Yours truly was out of action due to hospitalisation but I’m back in harness now.
On 5th and 6th of July LMS Pariot Ltd were at the Buxton model railway show. LMS Patriot Ltd has several SRC members involved and there is a close relationship between us and them. To find out more about the project, go to:

Friday, 18th July 2025 was the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s Rail 200 Summer Diesel Gala. Locos out that day included two tone green Class 47 D1842, Class 73 Electro Diesel 73001, DMU Class 122 power car 55006 and trailer car M79612, Class 33 No. 33103 ‘Swordfish’ and Class 08 No. D3236. Some rains ran as double headers and even the 08 played a part hauling trains! The first train back from Duffield failed to stop at Shottle on the return to Wirksworth, which dashed the hopes of changing trains there! The Ravenstor Incline initially saw the 08 working a Brake Van service, but this later switched to the DMU ‘Bubble Car’. It was a very hot day, but the trains were not too hot. Loads of buffets open at Wirksworth and Duffield, plus the buffet car was in service. It was very quiet on the Friday, and I hope the Saturday and Sunday were a bit busier. The schedule slipped a bit towards the end of the day, and I avoided the last round trip to venture homewards. A nice relaxing day on this complete and attractive Derbyshire branch line.

Thanks to Dave Hughes for the words and photos.

The weekend of 26th/27th saw the annual exhibition at St John’s, Trent Vale, Stoke.
SRC had several layouts there, including Freshwater, Christophers Sidings and Jennings Sidings.
Here are some photos of the event.

Thanks to Allan Cromarty for the photos.
