A visit to the NYMR on 27 May 2001 produced some varied motive power working the services at that time. GWR Prairie No. 4277 is now working on the Paignton & Dartmouth line. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley is under restoration and will move to Crewe for main line work. 34101 Hartland is under restoration at the NYMR, along with 80135. Black 5 44767 George Stephenson is now at Carnforth and is to be restored by the West Coast Railway Company.
