Pempoul – modelling excellence.
Every so often, we find ourselves in the company of excellence. This happened to me back in 2009 when I visited the 7mm Narrow Gauge show at Burton on Trent town hall. I have no particular interest in 7mm narrow gauge but visited the show a couple of times because it is relatively local to me and just to see what layouts were on show as I know there are some very nice 7mm narrow gauge layouts around. On this occasion, I wasn’t disappointed as we were treated to a layout from one of the finest scenic modellers in the country. Gordon Gravett was present with his French narrow gauge layout Pempoul. Gordon is known for his magazine articles and books on modelling scenery. He is also known to us at Stafford Railway Circle as he did exhibit Pempoul at our show back then and has more recntly been to the show with his later layout, Arun Quay.
It is layouts like this that hopefully inspire us all to greater achievements. Here are some photos I took at Burton back in 2009 which I hope shows the excellent quality of the layout.
Enjoy!
