Train Watching at Eastleigh
Back in August 2006 my work travels took me to see clients in the Southampton area. As I had an hour or so to spare, I spent it train watching at Eastleigh. During that time, there was a variety of 3rd rail electric units, Turbostars and a couple of freights. Fortunately, I had the camera and here are some photos.
Freightliner 66 568 heading north on an intermodel no doubt from Southampton.
SWT 450 056 at the down platform but showing Basingstoke as the destination(?).
Virgin Voyager on a non-stop northbound service.
EWS 66 142 light engine in the down paltform.
Freightliner 66.533 passing the down platform with an intermodel presumably heading for Southampton.
SWT class 442 drawing to a halt at the down platform.
SWT 170 307 arriving at the down platform. My guess is it is on a service from Romsey (Salisbury?) onwards to Fareham/Portsmouth, the former route being non-electrified.
450 083 in the down platform. It seems to be showing headlights so I guess there was a regular up service starting from the down platform. It’s too long ago to remember the detail!
